I’ll be appearing at the Saints & Sinners Festival (May 8th to 11th) in New Orleans again this year.

I’ll be giving a reading (probably from Madder Love this time) and taking part on a panel on short form writing. Here’s the programme description:

SHORT AND SWEET: THE ART OF THE PERSONAL ESSAY, SHORT STORY, OR THEMATIC MEMOIR
Anthologies abound that highlight this kind of work, and it’s one of
the best ways to get into print and gain your footing as a writer—as well as a great way to discover writers you are unfamiliar with. Panelists will point out how to structure a shorter piece and approach dialog, description and exposition in a succinct manner, while establishing context, plotting and setting, character and conflict within the tighter arc demanded of a shorter piece.
