Over the years, I’ve gotten a lot of pleasure out of the writers who usually get labeled “Decadents:” Huysmans, Petrus Borel, Schwob… even Baudelaire gets tagged this way to some extent. Though not usually canonized in the same way as the so-called giants, these are authors who have produced interesting work, and a serious body of it in most cases. In light of this, I’ve always been surprised by how often one encounters literary folks who haven’t read them… or who sort of sniff dismissively when their names come up.

So, I was rather pleased when I came across this article .
